Pope Leo XIV in Barcelona — 9–10 June 2026
Pope Leo XIV arrives in Barcelona on Tuesday 9 June 2026, continuing his apostolic journey to Spain after four days in Madrid. The two days in Catalonia include a prayer vigil at the Olympic Stadium, a visit to a prison, a pilgrimage to the Abbey of Montserrat, and the solemn Mass at the Sagrada Família — with the inauguration of the Tower of Jesus Christ.
Tuesday 9 June — Arrival and Prayer Vigil
The Pope lands at El Prat Airport at 12:25. In the afternoon, he prays at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, Barcelona's Gothic cathedral in the heart of the old city.
At 20:00, Pope Leo XIV presides over a prayer vigil at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc — the iconic venue of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Wednesday 10 June — Prison, Montserrat and Sagrada Família
The Pope begins the day with a visit to Brians 1 prison at 10:50, meeting around 80 inmates and listening to the testimony of two female prisoners.
